Oil pressure more important than temperature?

Oil pressure will fluctuate some. There is a lot going on inside a engine. If you are seeing something like 5lbs. Then I would start looking.

Yeah, sounds like you should pull the gallery gaskets and toss a new oil pump in there while you're at it
