Damn son that's a hard hit. But like you said, at least you have the oil pressure gauge! I think it would be worthwhile to have them pull the oil pump and see if it is in fact damaged and/or failing, and if so, whether the cause could be pinned down.

I'm thinking spun bearing. From low oil pressure. Just wondering if something got into the oil pump.

Years ago. I had a piece of valve seal ruin an oil pump. The motor had about 40,000 miles on it. :shakes head:

I was hoping things was going to work out for you with the gaskets.

If the oil pump is intact good can’t I upgrade the internals on the oil pump to perform like the nismo pump?
And my mechanic will let me back there to look at whatever so if y’all have any questions I can get back there and see what really failed.

Don't waste your your time with the Nismo pump or up graded internals. Get a Sucker Punch pump from MAM.

They are letting me throw in the czp gallery gasket kit in the new engine, so at least I’ll have that security. Be interesting to see the new oil pressures. Government shutdown won’t allow me to do an upgraded oil pump.

So is it common for these engines to burn some oil if they had been sitting around for while?? I’m thinking no....

BettyZ 02-15-2019 07:31 AM

As in, it is low on oil? Or were the engine faeries burning 5w30 to keep warm at night?

It’s been doing this lately slowly worse. And on startup and when I rev it you can see/smell the fairies burning the 5w30 I’m about to get to work and check oil levels. This engine came with warranty which I might use because I’ve been having cylinder 5 miss fires, injector cleaner has helped reduce it. But all of the bank with 1,3,5 will sometimes miss fire.

BettyZ 02-15-2019 08:03 AM

I wouldn't worry too terribly about those pressure swings, mine does the same depending on how I'm accelerating. Those cylinder 5 misfires tho...

Right? Surely they checked compression. We put oil back in. Oil pressure it back up and steady. Missfires aren’t too bad but still present

BettyZ 02-15-2019 04:13 PM

Glad to hear. In my experience, "surely they xyz..." means they sure as hell did not lol.

Now I’m getting missfires only in 1 and 3 5 has been 0-2 every trip. So it’s got to be a bank issue right? I am going to clean the MAFs and make sure they aren’t lose. And look over the TBs while I’m at it.

BettyZ 02-20-2019 12:50 PM

That's a reasonable assumption. I'd check all the wiring connectors as well
