Coolant question

I was going to top up my coolant, do you fill through the radiator or reservoir.

Also brake fluid, but thats obvious where it goes.

The reservoir. you only need to open the main if you doing a flush

Reservoir. It will suck the fluid into the radiator as coolant temp cycles.

I'd say the answer depends on which is low. If the radiator is all the way at the top, I'd just top off the reservoir to the full cold mark. If radiator level is low, then proper coolant should be added to both.

Top off through radiator cap only if you're reservoir became totally empty with no trace of coolant, then top off reservoir to max line.

Either way will work. You might have to top off the reservoir a few times if the radiator is not full, but, since you are just topping off, there shouldn't be any air in the radiator.

No way? There's no leaks I checked a few times, I park on my garage. It's at the low line I believe. I'll have to double check

Coolant is not something you should have to be adding consistentl. the radiator portion is sealed so evaporation is non existent and the amount of evaporation from the reservoir is very minor. If your adding all the time then you have a leak.

Yup its a sealed system. If there isn't a cooling system leak, the only way for coolant to really escape is if you overheated the engine causing the overflow tank to, overflow! It will actually dump right on the ground through a dump tube when it reaches capacity.

Isnt the low line on the reservoir just the cold fill line? I was going to double check and look at mine but my reservoir is currently MIA (car in a million pieces).
