iPhone app for measuring AFR?

I know Android folks have the Torque Pro app to measure air fuel ratio, but is there an iPhone app that can do the same? I have a WiFi enabled

Default iPhone app for measuring AFR?

I know Android folks have the Torque Pro app to measure air fuel ratio, but is there an iPhone app that can do the same? I have a WiFi enabled scanner from Amazon and the 'OBD Fusion' app which is great for clearing codes, but it can't measure AFR and I'd like to know what the car is running since I installed test pipes a few weeks ago and have a month remaining before getting tuned.

OBD Fusion does display and log A/F ratio. It's a calculated PID.

I am using it with a Kiwi 3 interface.

Just a pioneer head unit (SPH-DA120 I believe) that has apple CarPlay and an OBDII Kiwi dongle with my iPhone. DashCommand is CarPlay compatible so the app comes up right on the head unit when the phone is connected with an apple adapter (hdmi/lightning).

Looks fancy a but nothing more to it than that. Shown is one of the dashcommand default gauge displays but you can completely customize it any way you want.

Thanks guys! Used Dashcommand through my iPhone with a dash mount. A/F ratio hovered at 14.7-14.8 at idle, cruise, and WOT. I know the sweet spot is reported to be 12.5-13, but is this number still safe?

Let me know what the range is between too rich and too lean.

I too just installed test pipes (cheap ones from ebay), so interested in the thread since I have the same concern as the OP on my A/F ratio too.

Im at 300 miles with no tune, and no CEL yet. Runs real good tho!

Sorry RanRich, dont mean to hijack, but I have to ask.

@ChaseZ

So let me get this straight - since apparently I am no longer tech savvy.

The Kiwi device plugs into the vehicles OBDII port, and transmits ECU real time data to your iphone.

The Dashcommand app on your iphone interpets that data from the Kiwi device, and makes it into a pretty and easy to read live engine function display on your iPhone, that the user can customize.

When you connect the iphone to the Pioneer head unit via a cable, the head unit uses an app called CarPlay to display the same engine function display that is on your iphone, onto the head unit display.

Is this correct?

Correct. The app is still controlled from your phone, but the display is live on the head unit.

Can someone please help explain an acceptable or safe A/F ratio range? I'm at 14.7 for all driving conditions now and want to be sure that isn't too lean to romp on the car before my tune in a few weeks.

RanRich,

I have dynoed and tuned many drag race engines on the flywheel dyno. For 87 pump gas and 101 VP we shoot for 12.5 - 13.0 A/F under full load, over the entire range from 4500 to 7500 rpm. This gets us close and it is a safe ratio. The final A/F is tuned at the track based on actual vehicle performance and atmospheric conditions. It is rare that the best dyno tune yeilds the best track times. Usually the car performs best with slightly richer fuel mixtures that what the dyno likes.

I generally dont even care about A/F ratios at idle and part throttle (because the engine is not under much load), just that the exhaust temp at those throttle positions is not real cold or real hot, which it generally isnt - unless something in the tune up is way off.

If my 370 was reporting 14.7 under WOT i would get a tune to bring it to 12.7 or so, and then go to the drag strip to see what it likes.

I dont know if this helps, but this is the same approach I plan to use on my 370Z.
