This could be caused by a lot of things. First thing I'd do is check for any DTCs. If you don't want to spring for a OBD reader, most auto parts stores will lend/rent you one (my local O'Reilly's will let me read codes in their parking lot if I give them my DL to hold).
If no codes are present, I'd then try resetting the ECM. You can find the Nissan-approved procedure online - most people just disconnect a battery post and step on the brake for a few seconds, then reconnect the battery. The ECM will have to go through a re-learn sequence if you pull the battery cable but should clear up after a few miles. Cleaning the MAFs is very easy, so it won't hurt to go ahead and do it, even if it's not the problem.
