2nd gear synchro may be worn.
The clutch might not be fully disengaging - but that should affect more than just one gear.
Could be a shifter problem.
Trans fluid might be getting old.

Yes, that can happen. It is not a synchro. Two things to do that will help it. Service the tranny and flush the clutch fluid. One thing that doesn't help is the orifice in the line going to the CSC. Some folks replace that line going to the CSC.

When you say service the tranny what does that entail? Please if you don't minded?

Yes. Especially if you tend to hit 2nd gear hard.

Main thing is changing the lube. There are several threads about which brand of lube is best. Check for metal in the drained fluid.

As per Spooler, flushing the CMC/CSC would be a good idea. I don't think it's your problem but, going by the posts I've seen, the hydraulic clutch system is not very robust and does not like any contamination.

Change the fluid. The tranny takes GL-4. I would use synthetic 75w90. Do not use an 80w because in the winter it is a mother to shift when cold.
