Ouch, that would do it. It looked to me like the clutch disk was not fully broke in yet. I just wasn't sure. I had never seen that before until this post.

Although I still have trouble heel-toe in this car with the gas pedal pivot at the floor, and I wind up fat-footing it a lot. Maybe I'll practice some downshifting with SRM on and additional throttle input to minimize the engine braking. Thanks for the tip

I use SRM all the time on the track with no issues. All the people who have ridden with me, thought that I heel&toe great.

So it does look like it did get too hot in small areas which caused it to fail. Pressure plate plate looks good to me with all fingers evenly matched. Thanks for your diagnosis on these pictures. I'll get back with you. Phil

Update on my clutch disc:
Joe at Zspeed gave me an RMA for the clutch disc which he didn't really have to do, so you have to give Joe credit and also South Bend for repairing the clutch disk for me. Better than expected customer support. How often does that happen these days?
What can I say except thanks to both of them!

Update: this time I put 1000 miles (city/hiway) on the car before taking it to the track. Went out to the track back in early Nov and so far so good.

Its great to know that Joe at Zspeed and Southbend stands by their products and offers help when needed. I just had my Southbend Stage 2 Daily Clutch Kit installed today. Currently in the breaking in stage until I reach about 750 miles. My initial impression: this is how the car should have came from the factory! I no longer have the sinking clutch pedal issue after shifting from normal city driving for 10 minutes.
