Default Oil change

Alright about to do my first oil change, I am of two minds.

1- Pay Nissan to do it and be done with it.

2- Do it myself.

If i do it myself, what oil do you all recommend using and what oil filter if anyone is partial to a certain kind.

Nissan will rip you off.

do it yourself. it's very easy.

don't get people on this forum started on which oil to use. it gets long winded and filled with nonsense. i'm sure you can search for people's opinions.

personally I just grab the Z1 oil change kit with redline motor oil.

DIY. Even if you don't have the tools, buying them will only set you back the cost of a few oil changes at the dealer. I recommend Harbor Freight for cheap tools with a lifetime warranty (great for one-use tools). I try to get nicer/higher quality tools if they are used more frequently.

I pick up Mobil 1 at Walmart ONLY because it's $25 for 5 quarts. With a not too expensive oil filter, my oil changes cost me about $35 and 30 minutes of my time.

Get yourself a new crush washer for the drain plug from the dealership (or you can find them on eBay or other online retailers).

I actually picked up my floor jack from Northern Tools originally. But it's basically the same thing as Harbor Freight. My jack was $179 on sale for $69 with coupon - 3 ton low profile with 23" high lift point. I've been eyeballing the rapid pump ones at HF for a long time, but I just haven't pulled the trigger. Mainly because I don't have any room in the garage lol

well since my one jack is dead I may go pick up 2 2.5ton rapid pump jacks. start height is 2 3/4" which is lovely with the Z lol
