Clutch Helper Spring ... Any problems?

Based on the comments posted by a number of members, it appears that the after-market clutch helper spring (Century Spring Corp. P/N 72577) significantly improves the "feel" of the clutch pedal. Has anyone experienced any problems or issues after installing the spring?

Had it on mine for a year, no issues. The spring changes the feel. If you want to actually change the engagement and lose that "jerky" feeling while shifting check out the RJM clucth pedal.

Edit: I had the helper spring originally but changed to the RJM

had mine installed for almost 2 years now, no problems at all.

fwiw, i have the original spring that esfourteen ordered. not sure if it is the same one from century.

I checked out the RJM website as you suggested. Based on the customer reviews, it appears the RJM clutch assembly noticeably improves the "feel" of the clutch pedal. Has this been your experience? Any problems since installation?
Any other Z owners out there who have installed this assembly? What are your impressions?

I have it. I can just tell you: Best money spent. I come from changing the spring first, which helps smoothing the return of the stock pedal to the normal position (althought it makes it harder to push) but it doesn't change the engagement point which is very close to the top of the pedal run: resulting in the engine feeling still jerky at times.
RJM pedal instead is adjustable, I am using it on the recommended setting, and it feels like a clutch pedal should feel: very smooth to depress and smooth engagement, also the engagement point is around half way of the pedal run.
Worth every penny

no issue on my car. i dont remember when i installed it but it was at least a year or so ago.

As the others have suggested its very smooth, it changes the engagement point to midway instead of right at the top of the pedal and the new version 2 has another adjustment point. I've only had it on a couple months so sadly I can't speak to the longevity but based on how it's constructed I can't see this piece failing. The install might seem daunting at first but it's very straight forward and easy once you start doing it.

It's worth every penny, check the link I posted, search the forum, there are a lot of reviews on the pedal and I haven't seen a bad one it. It actually fixes the problem and engagement of the oem pedal instead of just changing the feel which is what the helper spring does.

Thanks to everyone for the input. I just ordered the RJM assembly based on the positive comments received. I checked the RJM website again and it appears that the install will not be especially onerous. I'm looking forward to seeing how it works. Again, thanks for the input!

I think this would be a remove-the-seat mod... no way you're getting in there even if you're in the circus! Putting in the spring was a PTA

It's been done and my back was sore lol. That would be a good idea but so much more work. Just a couple pillows and a towel makes it bearable. Then go one step at a time and then get out to stretch.

I got this exact spring on eBay for $15 shipped. I just did the install and it took like 2 minutes. And I am a big guy. No need to remove seats or use of pillows. I just used padding to lay on the ground for my knees. Use a small needle nose pliers to remove the C clip. Just grab it and pull it towards you. Easy as pie. You have to press the clutch in to decompress springs to get the pin pushed out and pull it out, then shift the spring out and it will fall out.

Was talking about changing out the entire pedal and assembly (RJM) not the helper spring. Takes a little longer than two minutes.

I would wholeheartedly agree with that comment... But as you probably can guess, I thought the comments were for the title of this thread: Clutch Helper Spring. But there seems to be people who struggled with that install too, taking hours to complete it. I am shocked that wasn't the case for me. As I am usually the one that gets stuck with the hard and problematic installs. (took me 5 hours to remove 1 cat, can you say demon bolt?)
