Too bad I have SRM or I would consider this immediately

Is that a cigarette lighter or just the plug? I think I would try to find some way to use the blank button that you removed as a cap for the plug. Obviously, you'd have to be able to remove the plug but maybe shave it down a bit so it does not protrude as much.

It's just the oem plug that was used when the outlet was under the glove box. Using the blank button as a cap would definitely require some modification since it looks like this:

Only way I can think of is cutting off the circular part and joining it with the oem plug somehow.
