DIY: Blacked Out Fangs...
Alright... sorry guys... ive been super tired... and o man my days have been just so slow and tiring...
ANYWAYS... what u need here to do this diy is... Black satin spray paint Satin clear coat masking tape masking paint paper or news paper works fine... and a scotch brite brito pad... get the one that actually scratches dont get the non scratch one.... Step one... Wash down he fang area.... http://www.the370z.com/members/simot...-fangs-003.jpg Use soap and water and scrub the fang area u wanna make the surface free of any contaminants like bugs tree sap bird crap etc.... at this time u can also begin to scuff the fang area with the brito pad..... so the paint will have something to stick to... be very careful not to scratch the areas that u dont want to paint because it will be dull...... http://www.the370z.com/members/simot...-fangs-002.jpg Then wash it again and dry it with a clean rag.... STEP 2 Masking... http://www.the370z.com/members/simot...-fangs-007.jpg well this part is a no brainer just take ur time and mask everything chin spoiler and make sure the line that separate the fangs to the rest of the bumper is taped neatly.... u want a smooth line not a jagged line that u can tell u taped it badly and shot it with paint.... Step 3 Painting... http://www.the370z.com/members/simot...-fangs-009.jpg Start spraying in thin coats waiting 10 mins between coats... and then shoot it with the clear satin spray paint... also waiting 10 mins between coats... be very patient... dont rush or u might run with the paint or worse ull spray it to thick that itll take forever to dry.... http://www.the370z.com/members/simot...-fangs-010.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/simot...housin-012.jpg WELL this is the end result... i think that this mod is really easy and everyone is capable of doing it... just be patient and dont rush and the results will be fantastic... when i brought my z to a z meeting they thought i bought my z like that lol and they were saying i never knew that the new 370z had a black housing headlight and fang delete option? it just made me smile..... good luck guys... and remember patience is the tool to having clean and well done mods... finishing modifications isnt a race guys... so take ur time ;) |
^Props to you there~!

You might change the colour of the Z in the future??
|
i am the type of person who gets bored of colors fast... and i paint cars sooo... just keeping an eye out for the future... lol after all i wouldnt want a candy green z with red shrouds on the headlights? not saying i would paint it candy green but u guys get the idea.... :happydance:
|
Lol.. Christmas mobile. Paint the Z blurple.
|
i wouldnt mind... o man... dont put any ideas in my head lol my hands get itchy fast... :shakes head:

Lol....... That's awesome..... I know you want it
|
oh man, i thought you were going to vinyl that! i still might just put a sticker on top...so if i get bored i can rip it off again :D
btw, those headlights? where did you get the color code for solid red? i'm not gonna change colors anytime soon, so i'm thinking of color matching the housing. that is, unless i black out the entire thing and just put a thin red pinstripe on the front of the housing... :D |
Pin stripe on the housing has never been done.... That's radical.
I might have to steal the idea |

That mod looks sick on any car Not black... Especially the blue one. I prefer a black/blue combo anyday. Too bad mines gonna be MB so I won't have the two-tone appearance, but this is def something I'd look into for future when I hope to have it a nice Deep blue.

that is SOOO sick. has anyone done it with their PEARL white 370z? i would LOVE to see that on a pearl white. even the back where the exhausts are because im sure over time it will tarnish the plastic. but yeah... very well done diy!!! i cant wait for my pearl white!!!
|
this mod would definitely look sick on pearl white... now that u mention it i dont think that anyone has done it yet?
|
i was so partial to magnetic black. i had a 2001 integra type R in flamenco black pearl
then switched it to a jdm honda integra in championship white. ^_^ before http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/6...1medium.th.jpg after http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/6...rmedium.th.jpg anyways cant wait till i get my white Z! during sept is the 2010 release right? woohoo |
