simota1 04-10-2011 09:15 PM

nice bro!!!!

chuckd05 04-10-2011 11:37 PM

are all of you clearing yours? I had mine painted and it has chipped like crazy in a matter of a month...

it was done by my shop using "trim black" paint... same as my rear valence that has been on for a year, but obv not taking sand/debris at it at all being in the rear.

simota1 04-11-2011 04:06 AM

i cleared mine... but rocks tore apart the clear also... it held up pretty good for a year.... :D

Davis 04-26-2011 08:58 PM

I am getting my front bumper replaced and the fangs will not be painted. I will post photos when it is done. Thanks for the pictures guys.

chuckd05 04-26-2011 09:32 PM

im not going to re paint the bumper back to stock I think, the chips are very annoying..

not sure if I will get it black than cleared over or stock color for sure yet, but be weary of chips if its a daily driven car

Any solutions to the rock chips guys?

thispecialk 05-10-2011 02:26 AM

repaint again lol

sexZness 05-21-2011 11:39 AM

Would you recommend doing this with flat/matte black instead of satin black? I'm not sure how shiny it gets but I definitely do not want it to be glossy

oh, and what grit do you recommend for sanding?

SPOHN 05-21-2011 12:22 PM

I feel flat/matte would be the best. Thay's what I'm going to do. I've already bought the paint. Just need to find the time. I feel this will look great next to my GM on my ride. I like the dull look.

I agree.. especially since my wheels are matte black and my vinyl is duller than the di-noc cf

Waiting on the sides to pull it all together. Take your time and the project will go smooooth! Painted the scooter, droped it, removed windsheild and fliped the handlebars while we did the Z....gangster!

Alchemy 08-08-2011 07:10 AM

Did my fangs and rear valance this weekend using Plasti-Dip. I can peel it off whenever, if ever I get tired of it:)

Nice DIY again, here is my result...

if you guys know anyone with this kinda setup who also has blacked out emblems please reply lol... I'm debating, I would like to see it before I do it... Google didn't show up any good results.

Dzel 03-29-2012 03:19 PM

Thinking of doing this next month, after the damage from the rock chips is it easy to take off and re do it?

simota1 07-20-2012 04:17 PM

looks great man!!!! ^^^^

lilmZkris 07-20-2012 08:28 PM

Thanks. It didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, but seeing as how I have never picked up a can of spray paint before, it wasn't as bad as I expected. I'll definitely touch it up at some point, but for now it's okay.

Joepro 08-05-2012 09:29 PM

This is will be my first mod when I get my 370, has anyone tried plasti-dip? It is not actually paint and can be peeled off if you screw up. I did the door handles on my 350 with the dip and it has held up darn good, I am thinking it might hold up to the stones/debris since it is rubberized and it is naturally flat in color..Just food for thought! i will be doing the 370 handles as well with the dip.

door handles are sprayed with the dip.

if I had a 370, I'd definately do this to my car, in Vinyl ofcourse ;).

lhinojos 09-01-2012 08:22 PM

anyone ever thought about doing this with vinyl?

critic 11-17-2012 06:18 PM

After contemplating I decided to do mine as well.
I think the rear will look nice once I get a rear fog.

GundamWZero 01-17-2013 09:18 AM

That is a great idea, but I was thinking about using 3M DI-NOC Carbon Fiber Vinyl from Carbon Fiber Gear.

3M DI-NOC Carbon Fiber Vinyl | Carbon Fiber Gear

I have a rather large roll that I haven't used yet. :D

Dzel 04-06-2013 10:45 PM

I've been working on this for about 3 hours. Fixing to throw on the clear.

Black out fangs question

Hey forum,

I have successfully used plastidip on my wheels and door handles. After spending a couple hours taping off my fangs for prep and plastidipping them, I screwed up on pulling the tape in that bitching corner area where the corner of the fang meets the bumper! Anyway, had to pull all the plastidip pff and will give it another go today.

Does anyone have any technique on how not to screw this up? Any input will be gladly appreciated...

SouthArk370Z 04-25-2014 07:20 AM

Put some release agent* on the tape.

* Polyvinyl alcohol usually works well and is easy to find (hard contact lens wetting solution).
