when you look at the back of it, you'll see some screws, four or six or so, that attach the AC vents and the cubby itself (it's kind of a separate piece) to the rest of the assembly. remove the screws. next, remove the AC vents, they just kinda wiggle loose.

once you've done that, you can pull the whole cubby, including the door, off of that assembly. there might be a few more screws, but it's not exactly rocket science. it's very, very obvious where they are and what parts they anchor.

here's a pic of the door front/rear that I just took to try to illustrate the hinge assembly for the door (i removed the leather cover, its a separate piece also)

all there are is a couple of metal pins and some springs that form the anchor for the hinge. all you do is pop out the pins (the springs have a tendency to fly across the room so be sure to cover them or something if you dont want to go searching for them) and then the door can be "pulled" out of the front of the cubby... it basically will just fall out.

remember that you will have two bigass holes in the front of the cubby from where those massive door arms go up into the assembly. i covered it all with di-noc just to make it a little less terrible looking, although, with my di-noc skills, whether it's truly an improvement is anyone's guess. you can see those holes in the pic above, here's them covered- posted this pic earlier in the week in a thread talking about a cubby tablet :
