I'd advise anyone against doing the clear lens swap. Here's what they did to my housings after just one day in the sun. I used Krylon Fusion paint.

Is it because your lens are to much outside the shrouds? Do you have a better picture of the lens itself if possible. Why does it not do that on the xenon lens. I'm having second thoughts of doing this. Thanks. |
for those who've done the lens mod for the front turn signal, what replacement bulbs did you purchase? I've not been able to identify a smaller/shorter LED bulb to use.

Well, I finally caught a good deal on a used pair of headlights... Leaning towards just painting them but also considering demon eyes and possibly halos.
Any good DIY on the demon eyes on here (or link elsewhere)? There is some info in this thread but not as comprehensive as halos... Also, is there a reasonably prices set of halos out there that I can be confident wont suffer from burn outs? I really don't want to have to do this mod twice. Thanks guys! Edit: Reread the whole thread.. think I have a handle on how to do Demon eyes... How well do the new Morimoto XBT halos fit in the shroud? Those Starry Night halos also look pretty amazing. |

Nice DIY guide bro , one question , can you share more detailed wiring guide . I'm doing dual halos and demon eye RGB from morimoto but still planning the wiring |
Just got a few things off The Retrofit store during this thanksgiving deal stuff; got 25% off on my order. I just hope i got most of the right stuff, any feedback for what i might be missing component wise would be great.

Im about to finish my set, ill upload pictures of what i did with the demon eyes. Not actually sure if they are going to work well untill i test once i figure out where i want to run my wires. |
Halo Mod Contribution

I figure I try and show a few things they may not have been covered here earlier and try to provide some images where I can.
Hole drilled in main light fixture fir halo wires. http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1516754511 Demon eye: Drilled two holes, one for the bolt and another safety wire to hold it in place. (This did not work for me because I did not position it far enough forward, if there was even enough space, where I was trying to shine the light into the small opening in the projector shroud. http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1516754511http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1516754511http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1516754511 Never the less, try it and maybe you can get it to work. Here is how I had things wired, http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1516754511 I wired into the car harness at each plug, GREEN=(+)Turn signal & RED=(+)HID on R/H light. The L/H light is different, I honestly dont remember but compare the plug to R/H and the wire positions are the same, looking at the end of the plug with the clip on top the bottom middle THICK wire is (+)HID and top left is the signal. http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1516754511 I was going to use the quick splicers, those blue things, but decided to just strip some of the wiring away and solder leads right onto the harness, more secure that way. Now I wired the (+)Lead from the Morimot BT controller into the harness at the battery bay, should be the wire bundle most outboard going through the battery wall FWD. I removed some of the tape and what not and found a thick red wire that belongs to the radiator fan that has constant power once the car is on. http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1516754511 Connected with a fused line to BT controller. http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1516754511 I ran all the wires upfront and "mounted" them to the front bumper, only place I found to have enough space to store all this ****, controller, and the six ballasts for the halos and demon eyes. There is room on each side above the black plastic flapper looking things. http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1516754511 I used 3M tape that sticks to its self and a couple zip-ties to secure them, and a bunch more zip-ties to hold all the wiring in place. An as you can see, I wrapped the whole damn thing in plastic to protect it as much as I can from water and debris, taped each end. I modded the pumper a little to accommodate the zip-ties and plastic stuff, just for away some of the ridged that would sit inside the metal bumper's valley. An I also used the horns mount as my ground for the DEMON EYES.http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1516754511 Not sure if the images will shot, using google drive as my source, so ill fix it when i get a chance. Should still be able to copy the link and view the images. If I can round up some more images or I made mistake, please let me know, Ill add more as I find it and get time. http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1516754511http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1516754511 Heres the link to the folder with images if the previous links did show: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ni...dev3YE1Mqlv-a_ Hope this helps anyone in any way. |

This forum itself will host your pics for you.. You can either create an album (quicklinks->Pictures&albums if browsing on the web) or attach the pictures directly to your post and insert them in. Lots of good info here, would be even better laid out the way you intended! =) I haven't seen a lot of good writeups on demon eyes for our lights so I am particularly interested in that! |

I was worried about using the epoxy with the heat from the projector but when I take it apart I'll try it out. Over all, the Morimoto BT controller works great, for what it is; and the halos are supper bright too. Will update further on quality as time passes. I'll sort those images out this week for you if I get the time; I drive back and forth from Pittsburgh to Cincinnati for work and class. Also, sorry for the tons of typos too, using my phone to type tends to be messy and I forget to check. :P :pics: Try this link for the photos, think I fixed it...: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ni...dev3YE1Mqlv-a_ |
Trying this again

hey bro,
Resizing your picture would help a lot the reading check out that website : resizeimage.net Good tutorial thanks for everything. |
So does anyone know what color wires are for the turn signal on the headlight ballasts? I’m wiring Morimoto Switchbacks
|
what is the length of led strip required for the headlights? i see you guys talking about these but was not able to see a length

Hey all.
HELP!!!!!! (please :) ) Tried wiring up 2x halo set of 90 mm and 60mm RGB halos from the retrofit source. They are the prism profile's with the Morimoto bluetooth controller. Been having issues with the LEDs. First off, they won't change color from amber. Wiring the LEDs into the turn signal circuit and grounding the black wire to the chassis, i am able to have turn signal capabilities (it flashes when i turn but then I have no bluetooth control via the controller). unwiring from the circuit board and going through just the bluetooth controller I get on/off functionality from the controller but no color change option. It does strobe though. Any input on wiring would be very appreciated! |

Here is a pic of the lights. They're not very bright at all and some LEDs are not the same color.
|
Got it!
Figured it out! The drivers and lights and controller were plugged in backwards....
|
I'm planning my install, have already ordered sti-r lenses, halos from diode dynamics. My question: The "driver" box on each side for the halo rings, where did you place them?
I plan to wire: - full brightness (drl) wire to be connected to ignition fuse - half brightness wire to be connected to either projector power or parking light - turn signal wire, to the turn signal power - ground, tap into any ground wire Just curious where the driver boxes were mounted. Would they be left inside or outside of the Headlights? |
Has anybody tried those Fitted Halos for the 370z from the retrofitsource?
https://www.theretrofitsource.com/20...ted-halos.html They are $200 but comes with 2 halos, I don't understand what's the difference between buying the 2 90mm profile prism rgb halos from their store too. |
Quote:
If you plan to use epoxy to mount, get the diode dynamics one, and cut or shave off the tabs, it'll be a perfect fit! And they're way cheaper, not sure why the ones you linked are $200. I just did my install this week.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6dae1c2856.jpg Sent from my SM-N920W8 using Tapatalk |

They sell 90mm halos too, for $78 the pair: https://www.theretrofitsource.com/pr...sal-halos.html My question was why is that "370z kit" $200, if you can buy, apparently, the same pair of halos for $78 on their site? They won't answer me when I write them, so I thought someone here might know. |
I think because they label it was "customized" for the 370z lol

Has anyone here heard about https://www.lightwerkz.net/? They have good prices on their morimotos, wondering if anyone has used them?
|
If that's the same one where the owner is a guy named Ceasar, then I've heard only good things. He's been around for years, one of the first headlight retrofit companies I heard about back when reteofits were gaining popularity.

I have finally finished reading the whole thread. Question about the wiring, for anyone still reading this:
I'm planning to add dual halos (Profile Prism RGB, 2 x 90mm and 2 x 70mm) and a set of Demon Eyes (2 x Profile Prism RGB) with the Morimoto Bluetooth driver. I'm thinking about using this: https://www.amazon.com/KOLACEN-Autom.../dp/B07DCWK1ZV To tap into the DRLs fuse, but as a separate wire (cause my DRLs are linked to parking lights), and then run a wire to the cabin to add a switch. My idea is that they will be always ON when the headlights are off, but I'll be able to turn them OFF if I want. Question is: For the things I'm installing, what fuse should I be using? |

have everything test fitted and made adjustments where needed. Have 1 more shroud to sand out and then off to paint. Don't have any pics of the turn signal 70mm halo and lens yet.

Looking good! Regarding the sma projector for the turn signal, I thought people stopped doing this because having a projector there caused it to magnify sunlight heat and cause paint to bubble in front. Or was that due to bad prep work?

So I've run into a few issues (not that they are bad, but they are issues) with this project that have triggered my OCD and decided I'd throw them out there so anyone considering this is aware or for anyone that has went through it knows I feel their pain.... and for those that have looked at this thread said to yourself “why would you do that?”....can crack a cold one and enjoy my pain...
so for a recap I decided to install Morimoto XBT halos on the upper and lower headlight shrouds (along with retrofitting a projector lens to the upper housing), Morimoto XBT demon eyes and Morimoto zoomerangs and since I had the front end off, wire my fog lights to a switch properly.... #1 Zoomerangs are awesome but they are crazy super bright! So I decided to wire them to a switch so I can control when they are on/off but wire them into the turn signals so they will operate as turn signals at all times...but for the white on/off I want that wired to a switch. #2 Similar to above I want to be able to control the halos independently with a switch and not have to rely on the key fob being in the car/ignition and the car on in accessory mode or any mode that would require that, so wire them to a switch as well and they will operate as turn signals at all times. To provide for the above I've decided, the best way to do so is to build a separate relay/fuse block to control the the fog lights/halos/Zoomerangs independently of the car being powered on....as long as the switch is pushed on for the fog/halo/zoom it will be on. In testing everything has proven out..... so the last week has been spent hooking up everything the way I want it to work and proving it out. I stared all the final wiring this weekend and hope to be done by Monday. Here are a few pics..... where to punch through the firewall into the cabin: Attachment 131436 secondary to the pic above, where the wire come thru on the floor: Attachment 131437 Switch wires all soldered and shrink-wrapped.... soldering is so satisfying :yum: Attachment 131438 Fuse block built to take power in from the battery, thru the fuse to the relay to provide power between the switch and the accessory (fog/halo/zoom) Attachment 131439 switches after being installed in the blanks and about to be put together......Thanks Nissan! Attachment 131440 |
That is some crazy wiring. You are doing exactly the same thing I'm doing, with the same exact components and at the same time too. But the fuse box is one step ahead of me.
