I've been trying to get rid of drain plugs on my cars... I tried one of these Dorman EZ Drains on my daily driver first (and not the Z). Really cheap, too.

So far, I like it and it seems like a pretty well made part. I want to go through a few oil changes first before I put it on the Z, though...

Just a tip.

Dorman Products

Put my redline in today at 9600 miles.
My god, what a difference it makes.
Quieter, noticeably smoother n-1-2 shifts even. Love it

blackflag,

Consider ordering/using a Fumoto..the best.... if you want to attach a hose to the Fumoto do order a Fumoto that has a nipple on it for hose attachment. (not all Fumoto's have a nipple) Futmoto's part# will have an "N" in it indicating "nipple" if it has a nipple.

For the '09 - '10 370Z use the F103N Fumoto valve.

Best place to buy price wise is from an eBAY vendor. They do not leak and are very well made. A terrific adjunct. 8-) I've used them on numerous vehicles over the last few years.

^ Good info, Billarf! +rep for you.

Do you by chance know where to get the appropriate hose to slide onto the nipple? Correct size, etc.?

I found the tubing that fits the nipple. 3/8" internal diameter.

They sell it here:

3/8" if I remember correctly. Easily had for cheap at The Home Depot, Lowes, Ace, etc.. Buy 2 foot and shorten to your liking. Also, the Fumoto comes with it's own gasket. You do NOT need or should you use a Nissan crunch washer with the install. The Fumoto gasket is all you need/want.

Thanks for the info. I researched the Fumoto part and the Fram Sure Drain, and wound up going with the Dorman part...I like it so far. I just wanted to shake it down on 2 other cars before I stick it on the Z. So far so good.

I need some imput from you guys.

I didnt feel like doing my oil change myself, I am not used to doing anything myself to my car so I took it to the dealer for an oil change.

When I checked the bill the next day I found out they changed my oil to 10w40 STI.
I know nothing about it and know nothing about what brand it is, just the type STI.

On here I see 5w30 everywhere so I am wondering will the 10w40 that the dealer used be ok?

thanks

I would take it back to them and make them fill with the correct oil. Then I'd find a new place to get oil changes done.

$0.02

It's not bad per se, especially in higher temps. I used to run 10w40 in my 240's since I live in TX and like to see high revs. It's just thicker

I would never go back to that shop for sure, they didn't even think about what your car was supposed to have.

Normally, I'd say it's not a problem, and I used to run 10w40 all the time.

But the VVEL system is designed for 5w30. Anything else is bad, in my opinion. It either wouldn't be getting enough flow, or getting enough viscosity, with anything higher or lower.

Default Oil Change Numero 5!

Oil Change Numero 5! (4th Synthetic)

So, I was feeling a little better today compare to last few days. I have decided to change the oil again. Summer is right around the corner so it's probably not a bad idea.

I went with K&N HP-1008 this time because UPS screwed up my previous order and K&N sent me two (2) of these HP-1008 filters. I think I'm going to stick to Purolator Pure1 (as I have stated here) for future oil changes. Why? It's very easy to locate (local auto store has it), better filtering, slightly cheaper and larger.

That's just in 1 year! I drive a lot

Oil Draining

Every single oil change sample was sent to Blackstone Lab. It's a GREAT idea to do this because they can guide you perfectly when to do the next oil change, how's the oil etc. I usually don't share this on the forum because EVERY analysis will be different depending on driving condition, mileage, weather, driving habit, and many other things.

I always put new crush washer. Though my dealer overcharge (1 washer = $1.06, usually they are 3 for $1) me every time , never reuse washer.

Tried to take a picture of the inside opening. Just for fun Looks pretty clean

NO more Aquafina!

Now, I should let you guys know that I DO NOT have the front chin spoiler. But even without it, I found out that I was rubbing the ramp slightly (found some scratched paint under front bumper). So, I went ahead and made these wooden steps to help me clear the ramp. I realized I have make them WAY too thick! I have like 1" clearance now! . Check them out:

Width of the wood: 1.5"
