Personally I find the shifts more solid, less notchy, if that makes sense. I find the shift feel to be an improvement over stock.

It's one of the easier part installs, the two had parts are getting the stock shift knob off, and getting that rubber dust boot seated again. Everything else is easy peasy.

The TWM costs about 350,- Euro here in Germany, which equates ca. 455,- US dollar, so it's a no-no because of that.

Your right, it is pricey. I waited and bought it on sale otherwise it would have been a no-go for me too. Having said that, it is one of the nicer short shifters you can buy for the 370z. Quality is excellent, fit is perfect.

Maybe if I win the lottery I'll buy a short shifter for you. :tiphat: :bowrofl:

Great write-up, I love the pics too! How does it make the 1-2 shift feel less notchy? Also, how much of a reduction would you say the distances are shorter by now? Does putting a short shifter make it more likely for any tranny problems down the road?

1. I'm not sure why the shifts feel less notchy. Maybe because of the new lubrication? I didn't think it would change the notchy feel between shifts but it did on my car.

2. TWM says its a 33% reduction in shift throw. I just know it's noticeable. I didn't measure the stock throw but I can measure the throw now and you can compare to your own stock measurements. It won't be ideal, but will be close.

3. There shouldn't be any change/problems with the tranny. The new short shifter bolts up the the factory linkage under the car just like the factory shifter.

Anyone know if you can get a spare of that plastic component for the shifter? Just so I don't have to worry about having a vice on hand when I do this.

You don't necessarily need to use a vise. You could use a couple of pieces of wood...

When you remove the shifter from the white plastic cup. Please be careful. The fingers on top can break. Don't asked me how I know. :mad: To replace it. You have to get the whole shifter ***. Costs about $160.

Ouch! That sucks!

I just gave mine a swift blow with the dead blow hammer and voila, it popped right out.

Tell me about. I was NOT a happy camper for a few hours. :mad: Did the same thing you did. Carefully set it on my vise. Aligned it up. Took aim, and hit it with my dead blow. Shifter popped out, no problem. Cleaned everything up. That's when I noticed one of the fingers broken in the white plastic cup. :mad:
