Is it absolutely necessary to remove the plastic undertray? On my 350Z I can manage to do an oil change with the undertray in place. Sometimes I get a little oil spilling on the tray and have to wipe it up, but generally the oil drains through the gaps and into a container.

It's in the Owner's Manual. Page 9-2.

These are straight out of the Service Manual, which is available on this site in the Manuals section of the forum. I'm guessing you missed that and/or didn't bother looking it up, but to quote your own words, "thats a small detail to notice so i can understand how you over looked it." ![]() Here's the North American schedule: ![]() Now here's the schedule for everyone else: ![]() Is it just a misprint? Maybe. But if it is, it's a pretty serious misprint, because it has people outside of North America doing their first oil change at 10,000 km rather than 6,000 km.

Most likely, with the recommended oils, both values are within reason, and the difference comes down to differing green politics in the two regions. Europe is probably more sensitive from a price per quart and 'save the resources' standpoint and demands longer recommended change intervals as a result.

ya sorry i missed the manuals part of the forum, i'm new here so forgive me i'll look next time. thats weird nissan would do that, they are the same cars and probably gonna be driven the same way there would be no reason to change the oil change intervals other than wstar's and ChrisSlicks' explanations
