Too ricey. Shoulda left it silver, or atleast waited till a carbon fiber piece comes out. The paint on the gtr button is so nice you kinda ruin it with a basic red paint on the ring there. Just my honest opinion.

Yeah I know what you mean but I'm going to add more red to the inside of the car like red z carpets later on.

I cannot enable SRM anymore and I'm thinking something may have came loose during the installation of this button. I haven't had time to open it up yet (would have been late for work). Is that possible?

:iagree:

Guys, please buy this GTR button from TheNismoShop or one of our sponsoring dealers (i.e. Scott from Fontana Parts). These guys (sponsors) support our forum and I think it's only fair we support them by buying it from them.

P.S. I'm actually tempted to do this :eekdance:

WestCo Scott 07-22-2010 03:48 PM

I will be on the lookout for all of your orders, for those of you going to order in the future make sure to mention your from the forum and your user name and I'll take special care with it and if you have any questions feel free to PM me! You've got a PM AK!

Solved my own issue. Took a closer look at the trim piece, and noticed when I replaced it, it was putting a tiny bit of pressure on the SRM button. I took the trim piece and put it back on and it has to be perfect in order to not put pressure on either the SRM or hazard lights.

If there's pressure on the hazard lights, your lights stay on. If there's pressure on the SRM button, SRM is disabled.

Just FYI!

Zeto 07-23-2010 07:13 PM

Man that was easy! It took me a little longer because of the stubborn clip on the harness but it eventually came off. It looks awesome!

TreeSemdyZee 07-23-2010 07:27 PM

I bet Nissan's analysts are looking at the sales numbers and wondering if they have a problem with the GTRs. :icon17:

haha yeah, they didn't even know what hit them! I've started a new thread about GTR buttons and orders so we don't hijack this thread located HERE. Again, very nice write up Triple's!

Just a quick FYI if you need to replace your start button with a stock one.... I was doing some research a few months ago as I'm going to be building a keyless ignition for my 280ZX and I wanted to use the start button from the 370Z (like how it looks white then lights up orange like the rest of the console on both cars). Turns out the Altima and Maxima start buttons are almost half the price of the 370Z and GTR and one of the two (Alitma/Maxima) is identical and the other is virtually identical. I'd have to look and see which one was which. I would like to get the plug for it.

Also the switch is fairly easy to open up. I've got a pinout for the switch. You can change the surface mount LEDs as well if you want to change the backlight colour. I'm not sure how effective it would be for the GTR button but it should work well with the opaque white on the 370Z/Maxima/Altima (and probably others but the Maxima/Altima were the cheapest when I was looking).

If someone knew a place to get the plug for the back of the buton that would be cool.....

Outside of a wrecked one at a Wrecking yard probably not. The dealers not going to sell you just that connector. Since the connector is hidden you have a better chance of making your own.

Kirkster 07-31-2010 02:56 PM

My button came today. My wife teased me with it over a video chat :shakes head:

Then she threatened to do the install herself

I told her I get to do the first mod on my car dammit.

Women have no place grilling or putting in red buttons.

noTCed 07-31-2010 06:26 PM

Finally got mine last night and put it in. All I can say is pictures do no justice to how much better this looks.

That's what I figured for wiring harness stuff.... I'll make my own or a pigtail with another connector...
