Default Front bumper reinforcement issues when fitting?!

Hi! As our rebuild progresses on '10 GT Sat Nav 7AT, we hit a snag in the jigsaw puzzle ( we didn't tear car down, just got boxes and boxes of bits! )

When we offer the bumper reinforcement up to the end frame/chassis rails, the mounting points are angled on the re-bar but completely parallel and square on the frame rails. Its almost like there is some sort of cheese wedge shaped spacer or gusset missing??

OR........have the previous bodyshop "helpfully" straightened rails that were kinked in (as per OEM?) Which i guess would allow to diagonal profile to be accommodated ? I cant find decent images online of just the bare legs and its driving us MAD!!

Any help will be greatly appreciated in this first foray into z rebuilding!!!! Cheers
