Default 370z OEM fog light install question....

Hello members,

Question for you all. I purchased the factory OEM fog light for my 370z. I realize that it has the current wiring harness for the Japanese models......with no switch inside. I would like to figure out how to wire the fog light so that it comes on dim with the night time running lights and then is super bright when I step on the brake.

My question revolves around wiring this....what do I need? How do I wire it etc... My thought was to plug the fog light in to the already existing wire harness.....then wire everything in the well of the trunk to keep it waterproof.

Any ideas, suggestions, etc will help me! I already installed the light......now it's a matter of wiring it up the best way.

Also, I hard heard that they make LED replacement bulbs for the fog light.....anyone have any red recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

The light bulb (and socket) that comes with the OEM foglight is a single element bulb (meaning it only illuminates at one level of brightness). You would need to locate a socket and bulb that would fit into the OEM unit, and then tap a parking light wire for the "dim" illumination, and a brake light wire for the "bright" illumination. I don't know how easy/hard it would be to locate one but you could take your light assembly to a local Pep Boys, Autozone, etc. and see if they carry anything that would support a dual filament bulb and fit the light.

A search using "370Z LED fog light" yields: EVO-R INC. Nissan 370Z Z34 LED Rear Foglight

Good luck,

Dave

Yea....I already got the stock Nissan OEM light and installed it. Good point though.....I didn't realize that I would need a two stage bulb.... I am doing research for me and my dad.....we both have 370s.

Good timing. I just did my JDM Rear Fog Light with the - Running light and brake light. You have to buy a 7443 Dual Filament socket (Needs modded using a dremal, follow the link below to the guide) and a 7443 bulb (low=5.9watts high=25watt). I'm just running a standard Sylvania 7443 long life Long Life bulb but still deciding of other LED bulb options.

I used the guide from this post: Rear Foglight - Running light AND brake light

7443 Socket I used: http://www.amazon.com/iJDMTOY-Wiring...oy+7443+socket

I've got 3 370's in my family. I have a '12 Sport/Touring (and a Z32TT), my dad has an '11 Sport/Touring (and a Z32TT), and my brother has a '12 Nismo. :-)

We have installed the OEM fogs on the two Sport/Tourings, and did dual mode LED DRLs on the '11 Sport/Touring and '12 Nismo (I was running the DRL mod using the factory dual filament bulbs, but recently switched this over so that normal illumination works as a parking light while still maintaining the brighter filament for the turn signal function).

Thanks for the info... I decided to wire mine up to the license plate lights so it remains on when the license plate illuminates. My dad wants to do his as Dave N has described.
