Junkman's "How to Avoid Getting Polish/Wax Inside Your Seams & Cracks"

Just as the thread says, watch and learn.

Here I am washing the wheels on the Vette with soap and water. Look at how dirty the water is after cleaning 3 of the 4 wheels. All of that dirt came off the wheels and wheel wells using nothing but soap and water. For folks who have to use anything more than soap and water, you need to learn how to wash your wheels more than once a month. Then they will come clean a LOT easier. That's not rocket science, that's just common sense.

Save your money and quit buying unnecessary cleaning supplies!

Notice that as I wash a car, I keep the entire car wet as I go. That eliminates the possibility of water spots.

The group that you hear is Ladysmith Black Mambazo. You may remember them from Paul Simon's Grammy Award winning album "Graceland". The first song, "Chapter One: Passage to Promise" is done in collaboration with Andreas Vollenweider. I use to really enjoy his music back in the 80's. The second song "Rain, Rain, Beautiful Rain" is Ladysmith singing acapella, as they usually do.

Speaking of wheels, how do you get dirt buildup off the crevices? I use a washer but the water pressure could not get the buildup off. Thanks!

That depends on what size crevices you're talking about. Post a picture of your wheels.

Thanks Junkman! There are crevices where the center pc and spoke connect to the barrel. Soft brush? Concerned about scratching the barrel's finish.

There is no such animal as a soft brush that won't scratch. ALL brushes scratch.. That's a "take each tire off the car on a Saturday morning and spend intimate time with each wheel" kind of detail. THEN, don't allow them to get that dirty again. There are products out there that will get them clean with no effort at all but if your wheels are chrome or painted, that stuff will eventually cause the chrome to start bubbling up or permanently stain the paint. If whatever your wheels have on them is not what they are made of, then it has been applied to the wheel and it will eventually come off if you use some harsh enough stuff. Eagle 1 wheel cleaner comes to mind. It'll get them clean alright after it gags you to death. That right there should be a sign that it's some dangerous stuff.

I agree... That what I do 2x a month remove the wheels to clean thoroughly crevices. It takes almost 1/2 a day just to finish them.

Not impossible but challenging where I live with all that dust and it is a daily driver.

Remember, applying a carnuba paste wax to your wheels will help keep dirt from sticking to them.

That's going to be next to impossible to remove. You'll have to take the panels apart to get most of that stuff out and even then, you won't get rid of all of it.
