Default Hairline scratch

Just behind my side signal marker I somehow got a scratch maybe 1 inch long, up and down not sideways. When i run my nail over it it catches and dont see metal but kind of a white color (Black Car). It is really not noticeable and prob only see it if you know it is there, I bet if I took a hair and lined it up it would cover it but it's driving me nuts everytime I clean that spot.

An good ideas on how to fix this, I think a touch up marker would just be too big to do the trick, its not a chip. I was thinking of power buffing it have the adams pc and polish...not a home atm, or I would post a pic.

Any ideas is appricated.

I would try polishing it out first with the Porter Cable like you suggested. I've had luck with similar scratches using Adam's focus pads and a hand drill. It's most likely just the clearcoat.

If its too deep, you could try Dr.Colorchip touch-up paint. I just ordered some and will try it out next weekend. It's was around $40 for a basic kit.

If it's small, I'd just try using polishing/rubbing compound by hand. You'd probably have better luck by hand than using a power polisher.
