Custom Ramp

I planned to buy an RhinoRamp but it doesn't clear the little plastic infront of the front wheel, so built my owe ramp instead.

Solid wood is good. Make sure the stop piece is well secured....lol

Remember the old school metal ramps. Those things were flat with no stops, just a ramp and a platform. I remember watching my neighbours brother in-law driving his civic up the ramp and fell off....lol it was holding the car up but from the engine.

Their stuff is pricey, but it looks pretty nice. Lots of interesting ramp-related bits and pieces on that site for other uses too.

yeah they look nice and are quite pricey. but i guess if you work on the car alot this should come in handy

Those are very nice! But $300 for a set of those, verus $30 of wood and 5 hours of labour, I rather stick with mine.

Yeah. I've been living with some big rhino ramps and laying down some peices of 1x8 then 2x8 in front of them to step into it without hitting the spoilers so far. I've barely got enough time to get my car projects done (and usually late at that), so I just haven't had the time to tackle building ramps. We'll see which happens first: me getting free time to build some nice wood ones, or me getting too frustrated with my Rhino Ramp setup first and ordering those race ramps

My garage floor is really rough and sticky (they etched a groovy surface in the concrete if you know what I mean) but the rhino ramps still slip sometimes as I'm rolling into them off of the wood.

I've got a set of Race Ramps and they work great. They are a little pricey but they're very easy to handle since the weight is less than 10lbs each.

How long does it take you to build a ramp?

This is exactly what I was planning on doing. How high have you made the ramps? I am only planning on using them for oil changes.

I think it's 8 inch in height. Basically stacked 4 piece of 4x6 wood together.

It's enough room to go under the car and do oil changes.
