Are there many meets/events in the Victoria area? (I found VMSC alreay and will be going this sunday)

Any good shops? The Nissan dealer just charged me $500 to hardwire my headlights on as DRLs

thats retarded. Should have just left them off. I run without DRL on my Evo (have a harness that disables them so HID's will work correctly) and i have never been pulled over or anything by the cops.

Yeah, I thought they would know what they were doing when I took it in, but it seems the US model doesn't have the wiring harness for the dtrl relay? Had to get something done to pass the RIV inspection, but I might undo it now.

If DRL is done why not just leave it alone? I thought DRL was programmable in the ECU and no additional hardware was required?

it is but dealerships wont turn it off. I asked both the Dodge dealership when i had my SRT-10 and the Mitsu dealership with my Evo to turn the DRL off so my HID's wouldnt flicker. Both said the same thing "we can do it, but we wont because its illegal" takes them less then 5mins to do. Not sure where in he ECU that is kept because i have the program to tune my Evo and there isnt anything for DRL.

The box where the DTRL relay should be is empty and there's no wires running to it in my car, so I think it's not just a software switch in the Z.

With it hardwired on the ignition now, it behaves a little weird. I can't turn my headlights on without the engine running, and the auto headlight timer (after you turn it off) just runs all the running lights without the headlights.. lol

Welcome back to Canada! Funny though, I just moved to California from the Sunshine Coast (lived in the Duncan area for sometime before... the island is awesome!).

Sorry to inform you that the DRL is a programmable option in the ECU. I bought my Z down in Tacoma and imported it to Canada. Several dealerships were going to charge me up to $500 to have them installed, until I found an honest dealership in Burnaby that did it for $56.

I'll probably pm you later regarding moving back to Canada

Cheers,
Cheech
