Default Canadian 370z lighting question

DRL's....Daytime Running Lights. These are mandatory in Canada. So when my handbrake goes down and the DRL's light up, both front and taillights are on? And switching headlights to the ON position doesn't change anything? Is that normal? And if so, what's the point of "auto" headlights? The only thing that changes when the lights are switched "on" is the interior lights dimming.

I just want to make sure I'm not the only one here... I'm going to ask my dealer to shut off the DRL's through the consult 3.

Well.It is normal..For the auto, there will be interior lights on so that at night, U will be able to see each name on the button.. If you have a navi..You will see the difference at day time and night time..You just have to stay like this unless you get other aftermarket DRL and do a ECU reflesh..Thats what Im going to do with my car cause I did mod on my headlight..

I'd like to get rid of my drl aswell. Let us know if the dealership was able to program the drl off. Sorry..., but what's consult 3?

Consult 3 is a $5000+ device issued to Nissan dealerships by Nissan, which controls all the control units in all the Nissan/Infiniti vehicles. It controls all the ecu and tcu as well. The only exception is the GTR, which the dealership needs a special access card for the Consult 3.

i suggest getting it checked out asap, not someday. You never know whats causing it, could be something serious. I learned it the hard way...well somewhat. I recently installed a wideband gauge on my truck. Was told due to driving from the shop where i got a O2 bung installed to my home without the sensor in could cause a CEL. Sure enough, a CEL came on, figured it was that. Didnt have a code reader so i disconnected the battery (had to disconnect while doing electrical work anyways).

Few days later another CEL came up. Figured it was the sensor again so i was going to do the same thing, before i did something was telling me in my head to get checked out. Went to the dealership, sure enough misfire #4 and #9. The E3 plugs i put in when i first got the truck (6000km prior) were fried.

Like i said, you never know what it is so get it checked out asap.

i cant see either of them causing a CEL. What type were they? I had Stillen G3 on my Z and never caused a issue, hell i changed the header, downpipe and exhaust (both the stock dp and exhaust were 2.5" i went to a 3" and a hi-flow cat) and that never caused a CEL...caused my fuel trims to go ballistic but thats about it.

neither of those should cause a CEL. Get it to the dealer.

Yeah, it's normal that three(?) red LED's light up in the tail lights when you release the parking brake.

The DRL intensity is dimmer than when the headlights are actually on at night. Do you really want to go "illegal" with no DRL? Not sure if Nissan will do that for you. Are you planning to run other lights for DRL function?

the DRL intensity is dimmer? Because I don't see a difference AT ALL...I tried looking at it time and time again...absolutely 0 difference.

Yes I want Nissan to turn it off...I don't see why not. It's legal to disable DRL, just not legal to operate a vehicle without DRL...so it becomes my problem, not theirs. I want to do DRL's with just my parking lights on my own.

You sure about that? I think you may have a hard time getting a dealer to turn off that legislated safety function, DRL. Let us know how you make out with the dealer.
