I didn't do anything special for 24K nor do you need to for warranty. Take a look in the book of what they do and do it yourself!

For $400, they should wipe your a$$ as well. No oil change (aka "dealer service") is worth $400.

But hey.... if you have money to burn.... to each their own.

As far as "normal oil" goes, ester is the normal one the manual calls for. I have gone with synthetic since the first oil change and will continue to from here out. standard motor oil should not be used in our VQ engines they need a higher quality product!

Both ester and synthetic oils are much more viscous and will do a much better job lubing our engine!

^^lol so basically what they do for you at an oil change! or at least they should be! I get a whole check done for free every time they see car not to mention the car wash (which I have declined and have asked them to permanently keep me on the "do not wash list" because they leave it streaky every time!)

And you know what's even funnier? There are people who do go to the dealer and slap down $400

You gotta be friggin kidding me!!!!!!!!!!

Oil change? Will do in my driveway.
Service brakes? I'm assuming this does not include parts and labor costs to actually replace pads or rotors or flush the fluid out. Will do in my driveway, besides that's a pretty good time to upgrade from the crappy nissan pads and fluid.
Check the battery? That's what the voltmeter gauge is for on top of the dashboard.
Top fluids? Apart from engine oil and windshield washer fluid, which I top up on a weekly basis, no other fluid should need to be topped up in the absence of a leak or mechanical problem.
Check tire pressure? A $5 gauge from Canadian Tire does the job.

Those people shoud NOT be driving a Z but rather a camry hybrid

Uh viscosity is based on the weight of the oil (eg 10W30) so a 5W30 should be the same viscosity as 5W30 synthetic. If anything the synthetic is "less viscous" as the more uniform carbon chains on average are shorter and can seep past seals on older vehicles where there was no oil leakage with dino oil.

Also synthetic oil doesn't really do a better job at lubricating compared to dino oil. Synthetic oil doesn't break down as easily so it lasts longer or maintains its original lubrication properties for longer. In higher heat applications such as our engine and turbo cars synthetic is a must.

Just saying to clarify not to nit pick.... but yes use synthetic oil. It's pretty cheap now adays so I use it in all my vehicles regardless.... regular oil changes and changing the oil filter every time is the big one.

when I looked into the oil question of synthetic vs regular, it said that when comparing synthetic oil to regular oil that the same 5w30 or 10w30 would actually be more viscous and less resistant to being passed through the engine and all it's lubed components then the regular oil. but hey either way those two are the best choices...........
