Where can I get my brakes checked in toronto?

I'm trying to find a shop to go to as well to get them checked out. One shop showed me my pads about 6 months or so ago and said

One shop showed me my pads about 6 months or so ago and said they look almost new bc there was so much pad left on them. They cleaned it, sound went away for a week and came back, I tried bedding it, I think that's the correct term and that didn't work
