Default BC Type R and Upper Control Replace

Hell guys and gals. I ordered some SPL Uppers and have a question. With the BC already installed from previous owner, it doesn't look to me like I can get the bolts out of the stock control arms. Do I need to drop it down?

Can I sneak a jack under the spindle and see if I can get between the spring coils? Just wondering if any of you have run into this.

I'm going to run out and try the jack trick while I wait for our sages advice.

EDIT: Never-mind, I combo of a jack under the spindle and a pry bar to expand the spring where needed did the trick.
