Question regarding the base model front shock absorber vs the NISMO

Hello all, While perusing through Courtesy parts online catalog I notice the base model P/N and NISMO front shock absorbers have the same P/N 56110K/56110KA and same cost per side.

Default Question regarding the base model front shock absorber vs the NISMO

Hello all,

While perusing through Courtesy parts online catalog I notice the base model P/N and NISMO front shock absorbers have the same P/N 56110K/56110KA and same cost per side.

Is there any difference in fittment between the two parts, the sales rep on the phone could not clearly anwer my question?

You could Nismos on a a base but why would you and why would you just do the front? Swift springs are way cheaper and seem to be used more as an upgrade for base Zs vs upgrading to nismo.

Good point,

My Z is about at that point where it needs the shock absorbers replaced. When I called the parts house I did not ask about the rears as they should be indenticle any way, at least they are pictorially.

The nismo ones are different spring rates I believe, even though they look the same. If you're just looking to replace oem ones check out the classified section, a lot of people sell their oem springs when they upgrade to aftermarket ones. You can find some pretty low mileage ones too and save some serious coin. Like $100-$150 for all four.

he wasn't looking for springs he was looking for shocks. If he wanted to keep it closer to oem he could get the stiffer springs instead of the swifts, which if I am mistaken, aren't they lowering springs?

I want to keep the ride height at stock levels, any lower and I would not be able to enter my driveway

I could do the OE base shocks without a doubt, the Koni are nice. So I was thinking the Nismo would be best choice between the three.

Good call, it's your car and what works for you. I'd still keep an eye on the classifieds, the Nismos do come up. GL OP
