Robispec Chassis/Harness Bar

Robispec (Robi Spec Race Suspensions) in California, makes a great chassis/harness bar. They started manufacturing it because of our interest here on the forum. Just wanted to thank everyone for this, now it is available to us all.

I had a thread here with pictures and a purchase opportunity, but am not a vendor so it was removed... I have no issue with this, but in the interest of sharing a great new idea/product, I wanted to let everyone know.

I don't see the harness bar on the site... Can you PM me a direct link?

Rusty 08-04-2012 09:44 PM

I talked to Robi yesterday and e-mail him. I have a red one coming.

When we get these, post some pics... There are not any on the internet except the ones on motoiq

Jordo! 08-07-2012 08:08 PM

Would this be a stiffer bar to go in place of the factory rear strut tower bar or a totally different item?

Yup... goes in place of the factory bar. It's rigid while the stock one flexes.

Rusty 08-16-2012 06:32 AM

Up-dates?

How much does this actually affect handling?

We'll see... Anything that makes the chassis more rigid should make handling more precise and responsive. I am curious how noticeable it will be. I'll post my impression once I install it.

Robispec emailed me yesterday... said these are starting to ship out on Monday

How do you guys install a harness to retain the OEM seat belts? I'd be happy with a 4-point harness to avoid drilling extra mounting points, but I still need my OEM belts for daily driving.

My bar came today. Went to take some pictures of it before I install it. The pictures of the bar are pink because of the lighting inside the house. Have to wait until morning. So I can take the pictures outside.

GaleForce 08-30-2012 11:22 PM

Looking forward to seeing them

cdoc.com sells a kit for porsches that should work on our cars. Need the door side adapter and to use the seat mount for the tunnel side.

martin82 08-31-2012 04:20 PM

they sell these eye hooks, remove the bottom left screw on the sealt belt (chassis mounted) and replace with one of these. You can also replace the bolt on the belt latch with one of these (by the transmission tunnel) bolted into the seat (HIGHLY not recommended). We drilled the floor pan 2 holes for 6 point harness, and also drilled into the tranny tunnel.

And use a 4 point with ASM technology like schroth etc...

sig11 09-01-2012 11:36 AM

Sorry I didn't get to include this before. Door Side Harness Mount This is what I was planning on using at for the door side. It comes with all the bushings and things you need to keep the stock functioning properly.

martin's right.. Best way is to drill the floor and trans tunnel for the 6pt harnesses. Most seat mounts have a thing to mount the stock belt receiver to as well which could also be used for the tunnel side lap belt in a pinch.

Could I get the info and pricing on the bar?

Thanks

I got my bar, and installed it. Got pic's of the istall. I'm going to post the pic's and a short how to on the install. Can't do that intil my desk top PC is fixed. Have a bad card in it. It also has my pictures in it too. For now, I'm using my work computer.

cdoxp800 09-10-2012 07:29 PM

Well called today about the robispec chassis bar. Real nice people over there at robispec. Super knowledgeable too.
It's Built of thin-wall mild steel like a road-racing NASA or SCCA roll cage.
I will be getting this soon.

Did you happen to ask about adding loops for harnesses?

Nope.. My harness is the bolt in type. So I am going to get the bar un-finished and have nuts welded on to it.

Going to have that done locally.

Just give them a call. Super nice people

Robi is a nice guy. I had some questions. So I fired off an e-mail to him. He answered it in about 10 minutes of me sending it. We sent back and forth about 10 e-mails in the space of about 45 minutes. He answered everything. :tiphat:

takjak2 09-11-2012 10:29 AM

Had to call to get mine shipped, but it's on the way finally.
