Here's mine, in black...

Rusty's spot-on with his install directions... definitely slide the driver's side spacer and bar in first, then shimmy the passenger side bracket in past the bar and line up the holes. It fits snug but perfect.

Turned out great... thanks again Robert.

What harness (brand) did you use in the blue project car where you developed the bar?

I like "DOT" schroth harnesses

martin82 09-14-2012 01:08 PM

I use the schroth Profi II 6 point harness

binary0x01 09-14-2012 04:14 PM

Any performance difference reviews?

How's the car feel (compared to stock that is).

BuckeyeZ 09-14-2012 04:48 PM

Can anyone post some pics with actual harnesses installed?

Me too, works nice with the HANS.

If you did just this alone I don't think you would notice a difference, the car is pretty stiff stock. The main advantage is the ability to use a harness, which was a night and day difference. Feeling planted in your seat and not having to brace your body with your knees is really nice and lets you focus more on the driving.

Got mine. Did a mod on it for my bolt in harness.

fuct 09-25-2012 09:55 AM

those are some rough looking welds cdoxp800, should hold though.

I did not weld them. They do look rough, but there is lots to them
.

Chassis Bar is installed. I had it powder coated to look like the OEM Bar. It's close to the same color.
All the bolts are 8.8 Grade or better thats holding it in. Now I have a good place to secure my harness to.

MJB 12-09-2012 10:57 AM

Can whoever bought one of these give me a guestimate of how much it weights? Also, I've been on Robispec's website and have not seen these for sale. I've emailed them with no response. Are these still on the market?

takjak2 12-09-2012 12:05 PM

Guesstimates from my install; bar itself around 15 lbs, maybe three times the stock aluminum bar whatever that weighs. Mine came with four spacers, two thicker aluminum ones that weigh maybe 1 pound each and two steel spacers that were more than 1 pound each. I ended up getting all four spacers in. There are two steel brackets that are removed as part of the install which weigh half a pound each.

So shipping weight about 20 lbs. Net install +15 lbs. Call Robi to order.

Can anyone give me their direct link to the product? And since it replaces the oem rear strut tower bar, how was handling?

dainedazz 01-11-2013 01:07 PM

Don't know what to tell you. You tried. Long vacation or getting ready for this coming season?

Couldn't feel any difference in handling. I'm not one of those alien drivers who can feel every change though. :icon14:

Both lol, long absence and getting ready for Spring. Well I sent him an email. Hopefully he responds. If not I'll have to find other ways. Thanks tho for your input :tiphat:

Still stock 3 point for now. Later on, in the future.

edconline 01-12-2013 01:58 AM

Just seeing this thread now, looks like a good option, it's not like there are a ton of choices out there. The real PITA is trying to find seat bases that sit as low as or lower than stock however, no good options yet as far as that goes.

Don't bother with a Planted base. Try Wedge Engineering. Planted was way high and I expect it would flex quite a bit.

Yeah, Planted FTL! Mine didn't raise my seats too high, but they made them crooked and the seats leaned to the outside, BAD.

edconline 01-12-2013 09:56 AM

I ended up with one of each bracket somehow, and yes the planted one is garbage. There are actually 2 threads about this going right now lol, I mentioned in the other one that the wedge brackets were better as well, I wonder why planted cant make a half decent bracket?

sig11 01-12-2013 10:45 AM

The base is working well for me with a custom set of feet. :P

Got my Robispec Harness Bar today, actually a pretty quick turn from order to receipt. Didn't take too long to strip the interior and install. I did have a little problem with the end spacers, I needed to trim about 2 mm off of the bottom edge to get the holes to align. You can see in the pictures how the bottom is flattened out. The brace that you leave in the car when you remove the OEM bar must have been slightly different than the prototype. Regardless, only took a couple hours to install. Oh, I put the bar, spacers, and fasteners on a scale and the assembly weighed 8 pounds.

Robispec 02-03-2013 04:27 AM

glad everything is looking out (I like the orange but what do I know...;-0 )
