Vibration on 50-70mph
Hey guys,
I am having slightly vibration from wheels from 50mph and above and goes off at 80mph. To to give a head start wheels are new Work Gnosis, tires are fine with 70% thread all balanced with NO spacers, camber/toe/caster is adjusted within OEM range, car is lowered on Tein SS coils and have sway bars. First thing which came in my mind was ofcourse balancing which is done so can anyone think of what would be the issue. Linkage joint? or toe arms? |

are the rims hub centric?
you may need hub centric rings... try as others have done: loosen all lugs while veh off the ground, then re-tighten while still off ground.

I had some vibration problem in my G then it came out the problem with linkage joints but was too late to just change that and car needed rotors/hub bearing assembly changed. I remember reading somewhere that endlinks gets damaged because of sway bars |

Try removing the wheels and making sure the hubcentric rings are seated properly. Remount the wheels and center them by feel as best you can. Keep the wheel supported and centered as you tighten the lugs.
IMO, this is a non-centered wheel issue. |

You sure you have the right hub rings... measure the inner part to see if it's 66.1mm or see what's stamped. Did you have the vibrations before wheel install, right after install or later on after install?

Possibly a bad bushing in your control arm. Happened to me in my 350Z a few times from the bigger rims and riding it hard.

check all bushings and ball joints! if the car is placed on a lift... look for cracked or ripped joints.... the best way is to actaully drive over a pit while someone checks the suspension from under.... cause when on a lift.... the suspenion tightens up and pretty hard to see where the problem is.

Ever time I've heard of a speed specific vibration at these speeds it's been a high speed balance issue. They need to take tires off, find heavy spot on wheel match up with opposite end of wheel heavy spot and rebalance. The high speed balance then makes sure all is well. You could have a weight defective wheel or tire causing the issue too.

it's possible the tire is not completely true (round).
to eliminate the chance of it being a car problem, i would put known good wheel set in the front and take it up to speed. if no vibration then you know for sure it's your Work wheel set. yes endlinks do wear over time especially if you are using stiffer swaybar settings. but it should not cause your vibration as there's no torsion when going straight on a flat surface. other factors to check are strut mounts, bushings, rotor, etc. try different damper settings on your TEIN's. |

the more things you put in between wheels and the hub, the more vibrating that will occur.
I had spacers and rings and i was vibrating a little. then i hit a pothole and actually knocked off some of my weights, so the wheel was unbalanced...this caused A LOT of vibrating between 50 - 70 9 times out of 10, you need to make sure the wheels are properly balanced. i completley eliminated vibrations from hub centric wheels and a proper balance
