Could the former owner of my car have ordered it with Nismo brake pads? Supposedly low dust. Is there an easy way to tell?

Maybe it's the dark rims on my 40th, I don't notice much brake dust, either.

My '04 G35 would also produce a TON of brake dust as well.

I've got a base with Sport Package and I don't get any dust either. My 350 was awful and I ended up doing like you did and putting on ceramic pads.

Virtually none on my '09 Base, either. A pleasure...

Yah, Nissan did a great job sourcing the akebono's. I like them too. Plus I have gunmetal wheels so its barely visible even if I go like 2 weeks without cleaning them.

Cool

Stock Akebonos, Stillen Drilled & Slotted Rotors plus Stillen Metal Matrix pads, I haven't seen brake dusts for awhile. No joke, I have forgotten how they look like.

theres not a ton of brake dust compared to other cars. but all the dust and dirt you pass while driving loves to stick to the car. especially on the rear bumper

It's likely not the Nismo pads. They seem to produce a lot more dust than the stock pads from what I've read here...
