A lot of newer cars are doing it now. Mini, BMW and even the new Civic SI. anyways its not a problem of whether they will work on your car or not. It will work on the car. The problem is that the rear top mount is not reinforced. I dont know about the z but I did the same thing to my AE86 which also has a seperate shock and spring and ripped the top mount of my rear suspension. It's not worth the risk to me. Also any kind of deformation of the mount will affect the pitch of the shock.
