So a while ago I bought a set of Stoptech slotted front rotors for the sport package. I did two track days on them and they were fantastic. Today, I was at the track and while bedding in a set of new pads (before I even had a chance to go out on the track!!) it starts shuddering like a ************. I thought I warped them and swapped them back to the stock ones...which I thankfully had with me. I loved these rotors and the price was great, but should I seek a replacement set or is this common? If this is something common I'm never going to buy them again considering they warped so easily, maybe I had a bad set. So anyways just looking for you guys' experiences and advice.

Sounds like Pad transfer, not warping. Stoptech has a tech paper on this here:
StopTech : Balanced Brake Upgrades

guys wearable parts are under warranty for 12k miles. cept tires normally.

because rotors, clutch's etc shouldnt wear out unless you been tracking it and if they knew that they won't warranty it..

so never hurts to take it in and ask (if your on good terms with the dealer and have a good dealer)

I actually read this before posting, and am fairly certain that is not the problem. The front wheels would not spin freely at all when the car was jacked up, and when accelerating quickly the front end would start to vibrate violently, as I would expect if the rotors were imbalanced...

Were you bedding the same pad compound or a different one? If different, did you remove the old pad transfer layer first, or just try to bed the new pads over the old pad layer?

Chris

I didn't know this. Is this accurate with all manufacturers?

Infiniti has had a history of using fairly weak rotors that tend to warp fairly easily.
Any dealership should be able to at least turn the rotors for you under warranty. If you go to a dealer and they give you grief over it, I would HIGHLY recommend talking to their service manager and complain about it. Infiniti dealers are VERY subject to CSI ratings and usually the service manager will do anything in his power to remedy the situation so that you give them a good score on the survey.

No offense, but did you guys even read my post? These are Stoptech rotors, not stock rotors. I bed in the track pads on these, did a track day. Switched out pads for stockers for the street, switch out stock pads for track pads, etc...

It happened while I was trying to bed in a new set of pads.
