just drive around one day and practice starting on hills. once you figure out the timing, you will be fine. Try doing it just using your feet so you don't have to fumble around etc. a tip: if you are worried about rolling back on a steep hill, let out your clutch while your foot is still on the brake until right before the engagement point, then take your foot of the brake and onto the acelerator. This way you can be smooth about it.
