H&R Springs Anyone ?

I was actually looking at the 350z forums and reading about cutting the spring mount. It definitely looks better with that mod. maybe in a year or so when I get the energy.

Anyone have the Tanabe GF210s on their Z ? Im stuck between these H&Rs, Tanabe GF210s, or just blowing some cash and getting the GT Motorsports Comp coilovers.

If you get coilovers get the ones with helper springs. I don't think the gf drops it low enough if you like it lower. The hr drops the front so there is 1 finger gap.

Just curious, why do you recommend the helper springs?

I think it will be easier to preload the suspensions.

Hey azn370z,

Have you checked out the GT Comp coilovers ? Im looking into getting these and they seem like a pretty reputable company.

No helper springs on their kits though, I think if it were a concern, these companies would have helper springs on all coilovers they were producing for the 370z.

Will probably be needing the matching Koni shocks (not in production yet?) for the lowered springs though....

I had Koni yellows paired up with H&R on the Z33 and lubbed dem. The new generation had adjustments for the rear with only having to jack up the rear and adjust with an allen wrench. This was a favorite combination running on the track. DD driving I would leave them on the softest setting in the front and 1.5 turns on the rear.

I have not seen a version yet for the Z34, but I am sure Koni is working on a set. Another plus with Koni, is that you can buy them individually. Most other mfg's make you buy them in pairs. Something to keep in mind.

Im not worried about losing a little bit of comfort, but only if the performace is worth it, last thing i want to do is pair these springs up with something thats not gonna work right.

Quite likely it's not going to match up well as the nismo shocks are designed for the nismo springs which are different in length.

But it's fine in the short term until it wears down prematurely. That's why the koni shocks are recommended as they are designed for shorter springs with adjustments available for you to fine tune.

They will work fine w/ the Nismo Shocks. They are advertised to work the stock sport shocks. If anything happens it would just slightly shorten your stock shock life. Right now I don't think there is a aftermarket shock/strut option anyway except NISMO anyway. They have been fine w/ the stock shocks on my car so far.

I am pretty close to buying some H&R Springs, but I have a few concerns maybe you guys can help out on?

With no front camber arm, is it going to affect tire wear dramatically? Compared to stock height, does the new lowered height greatly limit the slope of the driveways you guys can go on?
Any scraping while driving in general, on highway/local streets? (Z is my only car, and I daily drive it)
And at last, is there any other things to be aware of?

My understanding is that toe is what causes most tire wear. The springs do really lower the front by 1.3 and I haven't had any problems scrapping but I drive slow and carefully. You will probably scrap If you have steep driveways or the driveway that is curved. My z is my daily car too but I avoid steep driveways.

The picture in your signature is while you had the BC coilovers. Did the H&R springs take you as low as what it looks like in that picture?

Just approach at an angle!! It's a way of life for some of us. Mine is my daily driver also. No scraping so far.
