When the spring compresses or decompresses, the top and bottom that contacts the spring perch and top hat. It is metal on metal which is what creates noise. Certain super high end coilovers (basically, not the Tein Flexes) may have special coating on the springs OR a radial bearing built into the spring perch, but by and large, there is nothing in between the spring and the perch/hat. Again, its metal against metal = friction = noise so again, if the noise resembles a popping or creaking or sharp squeal during compression, then that is the issue that might not be it or you can ignore me either way good luck
