KW V3. springs to linear?

Hey guys

I'm purchasing Cup Kits for the front coilovers from https://www.stanceparts.com/air-cup-lift-system/, it says i need to use Linear springs. Since the springs on the V3 coils upfront are progressive is there a suitable replacement that you guys know of that would help me here? Preferably that isn't too expensive and maybe functions just as well as the spring im replacing?

Note: Just some requirements based on what the site says.

If someone could suggest me some springs i can use that still fit within the few requirements listed, i would really appreciate it!

I'm guessing that was a typo on your part, but it says you can ONLY use linear springs. You need a 60mm or a 2.5inch diameter spring with an max O.D of 99mm.

Your best bet is a 7inch spring with a nominal spring rate anywhere from 400-900ib/in. I don't suppose you plan on pulling anymore than 1G of lateral force often, so this shouldn't be a problem.

You'll subsequently need to change your rear spring rate as well or your balance will be off substantially. You'll be chasing damper rate problems until you shoot yourself in the head if you don't.

I tried calling KW again, spoke to another rep and this is the info i got, It's possible to put linear springs but i need to buy the following . . .

- springs inner diameter is 61mm
- apparently i need to to buy tophats?
- they say i dont have to change the back springs since i only DD not track.

Is all this accurate? I'm going to give Swift a call tomorrow, do you guys have any affordable recommendation of a good spring, i honestly trust this community's opinion, you guys know more about this than i do.


Side Note: heard a loud clunk today wen turning the wheel to one side. it was hard to turn.. The car was off but push start was in "on" position. should i be worried?

Have you tried to search in any “stance” or suspension based forums? They may have more accurate answers for you, if those forums exist.

I have lol probably spent roughly 8+ hours reading up as much as i could but only small bits here n there were usefull while most of it was useless as it was for different coils and much different application than what i needed.

So after talking with Swift, here is the info.

KW V3 Spring 9.3" 237mm (Height)
Progressive Spring
Spring Rate - 88 N/mm

Replaced with

Swift Metric Spring 7" 178mm (Height)
Linear Spring
88.24 N/mm = 504 Pounds per inch
Outer Diameter - 89mm

I don't remember why exactly we chose 7" but i think he had a reason for it, possibly something to do with how the stock v3's progressive spings work, i dont remember tbh...I'm just tad worried cause he said something about play in the spring since it'll be shorter but also said its not an issue.

We've done numerous of umbrella kits, adding a cup kit to the KW setup, adding a swift spring, no issues

I had everything ready to be installed to be honest but decided against it last minute because no one could tell me how exactly the car would ride on the swift springs and i would no longer be able to return it once mounted so i didn't want a rougher ride since i daily it!

Plus changing the springs when they are meant to be progressive just changes the dynamic a bit on these great coilovers so at that point do i really have v3 performing at their best with different springs, so if i ever change coilovers, i'll definitely attempt it again but i dont see a need to change coilovers for now. I keep contemplating the idea of going bags who knows!
