Do I need a bracket for Akebono upgrade?

The bracket you'll need for certain. I'm not sure if you can buy it separately from nissan or not. But, calipers are typically sold in three configurations:
Unloaded - just the caliper alone
Semi-loaded - caliper and mounting bracket
Loaded - caliper, mounting bracket, pads and hardware.

You'll need the trim the dust shield regardless, unless you want to buy one to fit from a sport model, but it's an arguably unnecessary expense.

The stock base brakes have the same mounting holes as the akebono. You do not need a bracket. I suggest trimming the dust shields. Also if doing yourself I highly suggest getting a brake line wrench.
