You may also want to check the pads themselves. Something as simple as a small rock or other debris can cause the squeal. It's not very hard to do.
im paranoid about taking the wheels off when you put the wheels and lugs back on, dont you have to have to get it tighten with a shop driver and doesnt it need to get tighten to a certain degree? i forgot what the term was called, but how would i know its not too tight or just right. and on top of that id have to buy stands or whatever you call it to raise the car.

maybe ill get a buddy come buy and check it out, but another shop said theyd check it out for free in markham area

Yes, the lugs have to be tightened (torqued) properly using a torque wrench. Not difficult to do and a good torque wrench is not that expensive. You will find many people that will not let a shop tighten the lug nuts - they tend to overtighten them.

I thought everybody kept jacks, stands, torque wrenches, &c in the garage.

You're going to make a floor jack and jack stands and a torque wrench?

I would just buy them from a store

Harbor Freight or Northern Tool or similar store are budget oriented and a good place to start. You could buy everything you need for taking wheels on/off for not much more than a dealer diagnostic fee I bet.

OP, Don't do this yourself. Post in your local subforum and see who will help you out for pizza and beer.

Edit - you're north of the border. Post in your local subform and see who will help you out for Tim Horton's and poutine.
