OK, this may be a dumb questions or a common doubt, but here it is..

If I do DUAL ORBS, I understand that requires some sort of modification to the OEM turn signals inside the headlamps..

What happens with the functionality of those turn signals? Do I lose them? Or will they still work as OEM?

Would I be somehow forced to get reverse landing strip to work as turn signals??

Thank you!!!

The projector lense makes them shine brighter, now you will see street signs flash orange when your blinker is on.

I believe it they go a lot farther in the looks department. Really changes the entire front end of the car. I should of sent my lights out while my car was down.

ufoz8mycow 02-15-2013 07:04 PM

Can you guys do something similar to the newer Audi/Mercedes LEDs where it looks like one continuous stream of light? I think it would look really cool to have these down the landing strip and along the bottom of the lights..

Ironic, I was going to ask the same thing as the guy above me^^^^!!!!!! I think that would be pretty cool!!!!! :happydance:

Anyone from Canada buy any of these light mods? These look like they would comply fine with the DRL law requirements up here but not sure?

I have an American '09 that had the oem DRL kit installed by dealer when I bought it. I'm leaning towards buying a new headlight set from Oneighty with dual orbs and landing strip, and keeping my factory ones as spares..

Thanks!

Its due to the fact that the 370z is gorgeous and the one big thing it doesn't have that say a ferrari, lambo, porche 911 etc is blacked out headlights...

It makes the car look like its a 75K dollar car and should have come like this from the factory.

**NOt comparing a 370z to supercars** just saying most high performance cars have blacked out headlights so it fits the rest of the aggressive body lines.

I'm looking to smoke my covers with Veil anti laser coating, but would like to do it from the inside. have you guys tried this?

To reduce laser reflectivity, I would go matt black with OEM color lights (silver) and "Viel smoke" covers.

I have mine coated on the outside... First time I put 1 coat on and it was decent... 6 mos later... I had to reapply I should have put two coats because three is too dark for my taste...
I wouldn't do it on the inside because eventually you going to have to reapply it....

reapply even if it is protected from inside! That is the purpose... last forever from being out of the elements.

You still won't be protected from UV rays................

Oh. Haha. I get it. The Veil won't be protected you are saying. (I'm slow sometimes... Many times)

Actually I think plastic completely blocks UV. I don't know what our covers are made of but it's some plastic or polymer and I think there is a very good chance it will stop UV.

My main concern is heat in there, but to go on headlights that stuff had to have pretty good heat tolerance.

Everyone is poo pooing this idea, but I'm thinking its so crazy it just might work! (Or maybe my lamps will burst onto flames or something, we'll see)

SurfDog 02-21-2013 08:06 PM

I think the bigger concern is that it just might look so cra*py that I'll have to end up buying new headlights.

I'm talking to the guys at ONEighty to see if they want to take this on.

They are skeptical too.

So now that the 2013 has those LED DRLs, can these be wired into that or are they still wired up to the parking light switch?

ufoz8mycow 02-22-2013 05:36 PM

Still hoping for an answer to this question from the 180 guys... Thanks!

How do those DRLs work? Are they always on but turn off when the headlights turn on? If you are local, then yes we can connect them together. I just like LEDs connected to parking lights because it gives me control of turning them on whenever I want

Lol can't make a 370z headlight (which is vertical) look like a CLS headlight (which is horizontal), know what I mean? We're working on a new design for an "led strip", just coming out too thick at the moment

KaienZ34 03-05-2013 07:36 PM

Are the landing strip LED's pointed up or forward?

They sit flush inside the dimple. The lens is angled to be viewed from different areas, check it out:

They are always on , until the headlights come on.
I like the idea of the parking light activation. I just dont want to have to have the rear parking lights on, in order to have the LEDs on.

The OEM switch for the center console sounds like my best choice.

Thanks for the speedy reply.

Blinking landing strip

Just read (skimmed through) this whole thread. Was wondering if the landing strip LEd's could be made to blink on and off from top to bottom (bottom to top) while the turn signal is on. Think Knight Rider's Kit with the flashing light up front. That would be a sick mod!

Never done that before. If you know of a module that would do it, I'm sure I can install it together

m3chhawk 04-15-2013 03:39 PM

You just need a sequential taillight kit, but finding one for 10 or so outputs could be tough.

Bonzo 04-19-2013 08:23 AM

We do work with a company called Hankscraft that specializes in making custom circuit boards. I doubt they have ever done anything like this for a car, but you never know until you ask.

Just Google Hankscraft. Guy who runs the place is named Dave Laridaen.

Does anyone know a company that does this type of work (or similar) in Canada?? I would love to do it, it looks great, but I cant afford to have my car out of commission for upwards of a month having it shipped to and from Calgary, AB :(

Depending on the setup, 2-4 business days. If you drive in, same day as long as you put down a deposit and make an appointment
