yeah the main reason was thinking of doing the paint protection route, was i accually stumbled on the motor one (ming) company themselves " the ones that the car dealers send your car too but charge you $450 to $1000 for" so i walked in and explained that i bought a new car from nissan but NOT want nissan to apply the coat of Ming.....and they understood where i was coming from, As nissan is one of their major buyers in their products, but nissan get their OWN detailers to apply the protection! and this is where motor one said most of the problems come from, unexperienced dealers applying this protection.......anyway after some talking to them, i asked them if they delt to the public directly and they said not usaully but i showed them my car and they Understood why i did'nt want nissan to apply it "as they seen it wasn't a 10K car" so the owner said they would be happy to do mine, and for instead of $750 what nissan were asking they would charge me $295 for paint protection.......

Listen to me please, that is a major rip off. $295 for about $5 worth of product is not a good deal. I own and run my own detailing business and can tell you that any good over the counter sealant is better than what they are planning on doing to your car for $295. They were probably laughing as you drove away because they are still making a killing off you even at that price. What type of products are available to you in your area? Let me know and I will help you get a good sealant and you can do it your self for maybe $20.

It really depends on what the customer wants. Waxes give a nice warm glow and look very glossy and wet, sealants generally protect better with a more candy like appearance. Victoria wax is second to none regardless of price. Optimum car wax, which is actually a sealant, is very nice and easy to apply. Wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant is a very nice sealant with good protection. Auto Glym Extra gloss protection is top notch as well. There are others as well, these are just some of the LSP's (last step products) I use. All of these products I have mentioned are ment to be put on a perfectly polished surface, as they do not have abrasives or fillers in them.

hey, well my car has been clay barred and is very smooth, but thats all i got done to it as yet as i hav'nt made my mind up regarding paint pro, or doing paint sealent myself, the products i can buy range from zaino (which i think would take way too long and would'nt want to stuff up the proceedure) or meguires NXT ?but what else do you use with that? or can you just use that and nothing else? i just want whatever will be best for the car and wont take forever to apply/ has to be done every week..... thanks NXTAZEE

People in the know what you think
What part of "IT'S A MAJOR RIP OFF" didn't you understand???
There is "NOTHING" on the market that lasts more than 4-5 months for paint protection. All those packages are a crock of bull s@!#. It's all marketing BS, and a lot of people fall for it. There is nothing that will chemically bond to your cars paint for years. Well there is actually, it's called clear coat, and it's already on your car. What you should do is educate your self about this topic on a reputable detailing site like Detail city or autopia, there is a wealth of info there. As far as the products you mentioned, I would suggest Zaino. It's probably 5 times better than that crap you've mentioned above, seriously. There is nothing wrong with NXT either. You will have to reapply once every couple of months though, depending on how you are washing your car and how often as well. I hope this helps.

thanks,NXTAZEE, so if i use the meguires NXT does the car need anything else done to it EG, wax over that coat, polish before, or just a good meguires car wash then apply NXT? it's just that i've heard that people use a wax carnuba after this type of treatment too

If the paint is free of marring then a polish is not needed. Just use the NXT and your done. There is no need to wax over the sealant for a daily driver. Sealants and waxes have solvents in them which act as a carrier so the product is soft or liquid, so it can be spread over the paint. With out a carrier the wax would be rock hard. Now most waxes have very harsh or strong solvents which strip away any previously applied wax or sealant. So it is impossible to layer them. There are a few waxes which do not have these strong solvents and they can be layered. NXT is not one of them. Zaino has some.

Go to Autogeek or autopia websites, learn how to properly wash your car and then learn how to properly wax/seal your car without swirls.

Non of these sealants will work in regards to stopping rock chips. Zaino is an exceelent paint sealant but it replaces wax... and does not stop rock chips. If you want to protect your paint get a clear bra. VentureShield Ultra is the way to go. It will protect your paint and lights from rock chips, bug stains, and abrasions. I will tell you it wont stop a wombat or a kangaroo. I lived in Adelaide for two years and found out first hand what can happen driving the roads there.
