If you need a sub, have a custom fiberglass enclosure made, much lighter than wood. If you want to loose weight...loosing it off the car is always an option too...you can get a kick *** lithium battery for your ride that will shed about 30-40lbs off the car...done
running continental DW tires will take about 5-6lbs off each corner... image the improvement
by rotational weight.

that would be the fastest way to lose weight imo... unless one takes off like
100lbs static weight, it wont really be that measureable.

rough estimate: 0.1sec off for every 100lbs removed from car. 0-60mph.

yeah, there are a million options for you to chose from. there are quite a few powered subwoofers that will take up very little space, and add little weight as well. or search for a 6 1/2" sub and make your own box, and add a small digital amp. Most 6.5" subs play in boxes at or around .25 cu ft, which is ridiculously small, and can be placed on the parcel shelf behind either seat.
And they would add a nice bit of bass to your sounds.
do your research...you will find something that suits you.
