One way to get better sound with less weight. Buy lighter speakers like Alpine SPR-60C Type-R. These use a Neo-magnet in place of ferrite, which weigh typically about 90% less.

If you need a sub, have a custom fiberglass enclosure made, much lighter than wood. If you want to loose weight...loosing it off the car is always an option too...you can get a kick *** lithium battery for your ride that will shed about 30-40lbs off the car...done
