Theoretically, once they get a firmware upgrade, the Pioneer HUs would be able to use any of the navigation apps in Apple's app store if they're willing to pay Apple the fee. The advantage to that is that all you need is a cell connection to continually update the map instead of Nissan's approach wherein it all has to be preloaded. Where I live, I continually get the Nissan announcement "Warning. You are entering an area for which no map data exists". CarPlay would be a game changer and IMHO make Nissan's Navigation package upgrade actually worthwhile for actual navigation.
