As Big stated you really don't get better sound from a 6x9 in the long and short of it. Frequency dynamics from the footprint of the speaker just aren't condusive as I have found in my years of installing. Some cars yes, but this car I have found the Acoustic footprint to not benefit from 6x9 installs. I have done a few with component 6.5" with sep tweeters and some like mine with a bi-Amp-able 6.75 Focal system and sep tweeters also. I personally recommend the segregated sound as it allows for a better acoustic displacement inside the car. If you are doing this , take the door panels off and the rear stuff out the back - Go to Audio store buy Dynamat and do this or get the Lowes/HDepot Seal and Stick Version. Sound deadening is a must. Dynamat - 100$ or so, Seal/Stick - 16$ a roll does the same thing. Your choice.
PS We have a 10 in our back also, and I tested a 6x9 that I had from a previous GM car - Infinity Kappa 693.1 which was a nice 3 way, but in the end the 6.75 with a crossover sounded the best. Just my .02 Have fun! GL! -Osi |
