Hopefully everyone has steered you away from Crutchfield. (however they do have an awesome support team) I got the same deck from Amazon $100 cheaper. As far as the dash kit, I used the OEM one. Check out the pics on page one of this post. I did not have to modify it and it sits flush without any gaps. Plus you don't have to worry about the AC control issue. Installation was rather easy.

Well I haven't bought it yet but maybe when I get my tax returns. After all the info I've been getting ill probably just order from amazon. Thanks for letting me know about the dash, I was thinking that I have to order the dash kit

Cbtech & chesirecat,

Both great answers to my question (yes I think both of you are correct). If I am driving somewhere where I REALLY need to be using the WAZE App, I will just make my listening choice for that trip be Pandora.

UruZai -- I definitely recommend the Pioneer units. They look great and if you are an Android person, do have the Pandora bluetooth functionality which is nice. Although I am still planning on upgrading the speakers, the Pioneer unit alone makes the stock speakers sound 100% better. Make sure you check out the "Sticky" at the top of this forum "The Install Videos", especially Video #3. Walks you through every step to get the OEM headunit out.

im still contemplating if i should get the 2500bt for my dd since im so happy with my 4500bt in my Z. :icon17:

anyone care to share your 4500BT audio setting on your Z running factory speakers? :)

i remember bumping up around 400hz and using loudness on high and bass boost at +2.

Keeping loud off and bass boost will help make your speakers last longer. Just keep that in mind.

^^ i agree. i dont blast my stereo loud at all cause i like to hear my exhaust mostly while the car's rolling, and listen to music while im at a light. so my volume is low. on the HU volume indicator, i rarely go above 9. that said, i need the loudness and bass boost turned on as i cant hear the full range with the loudish exhaust.

Just put a Pioneer AVH-x5500bhs in my Tundra. Love it! Those with iphone 5's looking into any of the new Pioneer's get to pay near $150 bucks to get all the proper cables. You'll still need the firmware update due out this month. It's a bit ridiculous, but not many HU's support the 5 at all.

kenchan 04-14-2013 05:02 PM

it's been about a month now with the 4500BT. very good. im real happy i got the HU.

one thing though... wish there was a way to turn off the clock.

I give mine a 3 star as there are some little quirks, 4 stars if I can get my phone to connect to it using the apps. If you have an Android phone, you might not be able to use the App feature or the Pandora feature on this HU.

kenchan 04-14-2013 06:15 PM

pandora works fine on my unit, per the other post.

cossie1600 04-14-2013 06:18 PM

I can talk on the phone and stream music via bluetooth. I just can't use the Pandora app on the HU. Is there something special that you have to do? When I go into Pandora, it says I need to register a unit or something

Cbtech 04-14-2013 08:55 PM

I don't like that it doesn't play flac files. Streaming and usb mp3's sound muddy compaired to burned discs. Even streamed Bluetooth flac sound muddy. Those same flac files burned to disc sound 5 times better.

Make sure you update your Pandora app. Mine connected right away.

I have Pandora v4.2 on my Android. I did more research. So I guess radio app mode doesn't work with Android. The only thing I can use is Pandora, but then that doesn't even work.

Cbtech 04-14-2013 09:42 PM

Yeah sorry meant to mention that...kinda lame that we can't have apps too
