wow i spent all of Saturday night doing research on decks and actually decided on this set since it works with Android more regularly than others. This post has convinced me that this is the one i want to get. if i didnt hate Apple so much (dont like the way they do business :shakes head:) i would get an Itouch to go along with it for music since album art is one thing that i really like that doesn't work with Android  Does anyone know if you connect to a USB if it will show album art from a thumb drive?
|
yes it does. if you ripped your own CD's you may need to manually put the thumb picts in your usb drive's folder for that album.

yah, the 4500BT's LCD is very sharp too compared to the earlier model 7". i have a 4100 in my G.

So after doing countless hours of research for what double din I wanted to buy, I am deciding to go with the avh4500 as well. I am a total noob when it comes to audio things. So I have some questions for you guys.
1. How difficult is the installtion? Is there anything I should be aware of when installing? 2. I noticed that crutchfield sells it with the harnesses and dash kit. Would it be better to buy from crutchfield or buy everything seperately (since I have read that the dash kit they give you doesn't sit right with the ac controls)? Thanks in advance! |

looking at numerous how to's on this forum it looks very straight forward with a 3 out of 10 difficulty. |
Need help on getting the Album Art to show up from a USB drive. I have all my CDs ripped (using the Windows Media Manager) and I can see the Album Art in the folders. I did a straight copy/paste onto a flash drive. Album Art does not show up on the Headunit. When I copy the same files onto my Sandisk player, the Art does show up, so I assumed it was a limitation of the flash drive
I have downloaded the MediaMonkey software -- is there something I can do with it to fix the problem? |

Antenna Adaptor (splice the blue wire into the blue/white wire on the Pioneer harness or you will not get good reception) :
Amazon.com: Metra 40-NI12 Nissan 07-Up Antenna Adapter: Car Electronics If you want to keep the steering wheel controls (you have to splice this into the VEHICLES side of the harness and then plug the 3.5 mm jack into the "wired remote input" of the Pioneer. Most people (myself included) need to do the manual programming to get it to work, but that is easy): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Parking Brake Bypass (even if you will never watch a movie, get it to keep full functionality of the phone features while driving): http://www.amazon.com/AVH-X1500DVD-A...bypass+pioneer |

This will usually fix the issue. Make sure you blow out the drive and resync all the music through MM. |

try to use anything else but Windows media player to rip your music. media monkey has the option for that and what bit rate to rip at. since thumb drives are so cheap now for the amount of space, I rip all my music at 320 bit rate. |
Thanks -- I just downloaded Mediamonkey last night so I will play around with it tonight and set up my preferences. Then I will use it in the future for ripping.
I saw this article on how to use Mediamonkey to fix what I have already ripped. Going to give this a try so hopefully I dont have to rip my entire collection again. Alpha Geek: Whip your MP3 library into shape, Part II - Album art |
MediaMonkey did the trick. I will rip all future CDs with it and have made sure the preferences are set to add the album art to the individual tracks.
I was also able to follow these instructions to add the artwork to my existing music: Alpha Geek: Whip your MP3 library into shape, Part II - Album art I started at the "A"s and have worked my way back to the "I"s. Should be finished tonight. Nice to see the Album Art and not the "big gray musical note" on screen. |
