I give up on ASWC

Installed AVIC-X920BT with ASWC almost 2 years ago. ASWC has never worked. Spent 3 hours yesterday reviewing wiring, updating the firmware and reinstalling. Still no luck. ...I give up

oK, some research on this indicates the same feedback from several users as this one, "Hey all,

I just thought I would share my experience with the Axxess ASWC steering wheel control adapter. I bought it for 62 bucks shipped (much less than the PAC one) and have it installed with a X920BT.

Its very simple to install. I think I had a total of 4-5 wires to tap into. Upon connecting the wires, it works right out of the box with no programing! Plus there is ZERO delay!

There is one issue I ran into when using this with my X920BT. Im not sure it this is a ASWC issue or a pionner issue, but here is my problem.

By default, the track up and down buttons work fine for ipod, dvd, CD, SD MP3. But when your in radio mode, track up and down do NOT jump presets. Track up and down ONLY change the station one notch.

So if Im listening to 106.7 and hit track up, it goes to 106.9. That sucks!
Now, it can be programed to do radio presets up and down. But doing that, means you loose track up and down for ipod, CD, DVD and MP3.

Im left wondering if I should have got the slow PAC control now...."

Further research shows that other users state this is a Known Pioneer issue... they recommend trying Pac's, version 1.6.8; as they are a lot faster.

Not sure how much this helps.

I used the AWSC with my Pioneer AVH8400 and it worked with manual programming. Sounds like there's an issue just between it and the 920. I'd definitely say the next step is trying the PAC.

If he is not using the correct wires it will not work either way. The Metra Axxess is much better than the pac all day.

Quadruple checked my wiring...can't look at it anymore. Even re-did it twice.

yah, sometimes just best to go old skool. try the pac or peripheral. your local bestbuy should have them or buy through amazon for dirt cheap.

GL!

Make sure you grounded the black wire from the stock harness. Also believe it or not it could be a bad harness and or module. I had a problem with a re-q one time. Bought a second one plugged it in and still had a problem. It ended up being the re-q's harness.
